Apparently Casey Kasem has retired for good this time.

I was one of those faithful listeners from the '70s and early 80's who waited on Sunday morning to hear the countdown to the "new number one single" because I had no interest in buying Billboard's magazine (still waiting for Foreigner's "Waiting for a Girl" to hit #1).

Kasem's voice was as soothing as Vin Scully on Sat.'s Game of the Week, as Cronkite on the Evening News.

Here's wishing him a long and happy retirement.

We're counting down the top D_Bs of all time ...

Coming in at No. 2 is a very special D_B. It comes to us from qtlaw. Just put yourself in the right frame of mind, and you'll understand. You see, on SportsJournalists.com, two storied posters named Bubbler and BYH regularly revisit Casey Kasem's Top 10 countdowns. They spend their evenings reranking the Top 40 from a different date in time. Hilarity usually ensues. Casey Kasem is referenced quite often. Knowing this, one would expect a thread about Casey Kasem's final countdown to be posted sometime around the date of Casey Kasem's actual last countdown. But not qtlaw. You see, qt thought that everyone missed it. Despite the original thread still standing on Page 1 of SportsJournalists.com, despite the thread being posted nearly a week ago, despite the SportsJournalists.com standing of all involved, qtlaw brought us a whiz-bang D_B. Here is is from qtlaw, No. 2 on the D_B list, "Goodbye Casey Kasem."

And No. 1 is D_B himself.
