Good place(s) to donate books?

I know there was a thread about this a while ago, so my apologies for the d_bing...but my wife and I are moving in a couple months and one of the things we need to do during packing is lessen our book load. The idea of just throwing out books makes my stomach hurt, and I remember the last thread had some info on how to donate books to deserving and needy places, such as libraries and homes in the New Orleans area.

Any chance I can get a refresher course on those places? Would love to get these books a nice home, thanks...
