Just so we're clear what we are talking about here, the laws in question are as follows:

In Iowa, two separate bills have been produced that would 1) identify a fetus as a person and 2) a person has the right to use deadly force in a place where he has the right to be in order to protect the life of another person or prevent the commission of a felony.

There's no reason to assume that these bills were meant to work in harmony to provide legal means to kill abortion providers (other than the general, unthinking reflex to try to interpret the world in a way that makes the people you disagree with look as bad as possible). It's theoretically possible that someone might try to produce a legal argument in that manner, but they can do that with justifiable homicide laws right now (as the man who murdered Dr. Tiller did) and there's no chance that a court would uphold such a claim.

The Nebraska proposal, however, is pretty explicit and creepy as hell that a state senator would introduce it, but I still doubt it would actually provide legal protection to someone who killed an abortion provider.

. . . a good reference, but one which no doubt flew far over the heads of the majority of the involved yahoos in question . . .
