Georgia was hardly the only suspect when Carroll went for his final midnight swim, LJB.

Madame Ram single-handedly ruined football in Southern California until Pete Carroll came along and revived USC. I'm no Rams fan, but I grew up in SoCal, and the departure of the Rams and how she did it was horrible. As Buck said, L.A. was a Rams town before the Lakers and Dodgers took over. Games at the Coliseum routinely sold out. And in a town with the O'Malley's and Jerry Buss, she stuck out like the sore thumb she was.
    Enjoy hell.

So Carroll Rosenbloom left his wife for hooker that was 22 years old younger than him and we're surprised that shit got all fucked up.

la always has been a dodger town. please don't act as though it took the rams' moving before la embraced the dodgers because it just isn't true.

And the locals are great NFL fans because they know if some shitty team comes to town, they'll lose their NFL Sunday doubleheaders on TV. I know of no one in LA who wants an NFL team back.

SI must have been hard up that week if it featured a by-then way past sell date Bert Jones and Georgia Frontiere.

More proof that Lynn Dickey got screwed out of his proper credit back then. [/packerfanboyrunamok]

I wonder how the handlers of Gato del Sol took it? "Fuck, we got shoved off the SI cover by a low-rent Terry Bradshaw with a glass arm* and a gold digging call girl?"

    * Jones did one of the greatest QB seasons ever in '76 before his arm turned gelatinous.

Gotta give the woman credit - the St. Louis Rams had a lot more success than the LA Rams.

Didn't mean to imply it, though the Rams preceded the Dodgers to L.A. by about 10 years. And, actually, the fan support in L.A just rotated depending on the time of year. Rams to Lakers to Dodgers to Rams, though the Rams lost a lot of their fan base from the Valley and West side when they moved to Anaheim.

Dunno which LA Rams you're talking about. ::)

    The ones I know about won 11 division titles (1949, 1967, 1969, 1973-79, 1985), four conference championships (1950-51, 1955, 1979) and an NFL championship (1951).

The St. Louis Rams have won three division titles (1999, 2001, 2003), two conference championships (1999, 2001), and one NFL championship (1999), but are under .500 as a team in their new home.

Not to mention winning 9-11 games a year for a good part of the 80s... in the shadow of the dynastic 49ers.

Not surprising that you would have that erroneous image, KC, considering what that rhymes-with-punt call girl did to what was a proud, well-run franchise.

King, you couldn't be more wrong.
