Had Bama not made that three-ball to go into OT, this would've happened during KY-GA warmups and intros.

Reports from the NWS Atlantaâ€¦

3/14 20:58:27 1 Nw Atlanta [Fulton Co, GA] emergency mngr reports TORNADO at 09:40 PM EDT — possible tornado caused damage to the georgia dome. damage at cnn also reported from media.

3/14 21:09:44 WAGA reporter on scene reporting multiple windows blown out at Omni Atlanta hotel, debris on centennial ave, and reports of injuries.

Another powerful storm is moving toward Atlanta from the WNW.

No injuries reported at the Georgia Dome according to WXIA.

After the Hawks game or while it was going on?
The game was finished without interruption. I can't imagine they would evacuate while the game was still being played.

there's another cell that appears to be on the way. Not as strong as this one...but it wont do good things with an open dome.

Well maybe the report came from someone who saw the arena was empty just after the game? Its not like they draw a crowd anyways.

Wind storm damages Georgia Dome, delays SEC game
Several bolts fell from rafters, fans looked for safety

A wind storm caused several bolts to fall from the rafters of the Georgia Dome on Friday, temporarily delaying a basketball game between Mississippi State and Alabama.

The storm hit the Dome at 9:40 p.m., causing catwalks to sway and insulation to fall from the roof as fans left their seats and huddled in the concourse looking for safety. Curtains that drape the sides of the Dome blew open. Fans said they could see lightning outside the building when the curtains blew open.

The giant monitor that hangs over the court swayed for at least 10 minutes after the storm blew through.

Scott Wise of Tupelo, Miss. said he was sitting in Section 107, Row 1, which are temporary bleachers courtside, when he was almost hit by the 1/2-inch long bolt.

"A big old bolt just fell out of the top," Wise said. "It hit right beside my chair. I had no idea what was going on. I looked up and thought the roof was going to come in."

A washer also landed near press row.

A huge panel on the north side of the Dome was ripped open by the storm.

"It was strange. My initial thought was the Kentucky people were stomping their feet above us," Georgia athletics director Damon Evans said. "I've never been through anything like that before. Hopefully, we'll get the game in tonight. I trust the people at the Dome."

Lindsey Dumavant, of Jacksonville, Ala., who was sitting in Section 107, Row 5, crawled under her seats after another bolt, which was sheared off at the nut, landed beside her.

"I've been through a tornado before, and I knew that's what it was," Dumavant said.

Kentucky and Georgia might be lucky to be done with their game by 1:15 a.m., then have to play at 3:30 p.m. Saturuday.

Temperature has dropped roughly 10 degrees in the Dome, said Brando, thanks to the cold air blowing in from outside.

also, a good argument for holding basketball games in an arena...

At least the conference tourneys, which usually dont draw anything near a dome capacity.
