Gas or Electric?

With a water heater, you just relight the pilot.

With a stove, you just strike a match and turn the knob. (like lighting a coleman stove or lantern)

With a furnace, you just turn the fan on instead of having it at auto.

Gotta call you on that redundancy. There is mashed potatoes and then there is crap. If it's not "real," then it's not mashed potatoes.

Oh, before I forget ... gas. No other way to cook.

Have never had a gas stove, but it sure sounds like I'm missing out based on this thread.

Never cooked on gas, but I'd like to try it.

Gas. A gas rangetop has a more even temperature distribution and that makes it much easier for folks who really like to cook. If you're cooking anything like jambalaya or gumbo, you've got to have a gas range.

If you're not much of a cook, electric is just fine and dandy. But if you're redoing a kitchen and intend to sell the house, most people who like to cook are going to want a gas rangetop.
