  1. Didn't know Mr. Shoob, but this is very sad. Reporter/anchor/m.e. checked on a wreck and was crossing the highway to return to his car when he was struck.

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Longtime WTOC-TV anchor, managing editor, and photographer Steven Shoob died Monday morning while covering an accident on Interstate 95 near Highway 21. Shoob had responded to a car accident and, when he crossed the highway to return to his car, he was struck by another vehicle. Authorities said Shoob died on the scene.

Shoob was born and raised in Savannah and graduated from Savannah High School. He started working at WTOC more than 20 years ago. In 2003, he won three Associated Press awards and the station's first Emmy.
