Furloughs in Newark

    Looks like the Star-Ledger is read to board the furlough train.

    Wonder if this affects the new hires? I'm sure it does.

    Being newly hired means being in position to get furloughed, which means they're in a better position than a lot of former journalists who can't seem to get hired again at all.

    I think furloughs are unfortunate, but they're way better than just about any other giveback or loss one could incur. Just use that unpaid week wisely and file for unemployment.
