    Actual lead from a small-town paper recently.

    I shit you not. Nothing like comparing high school football to the anniversary of a national tragedy.

    I find it hysterical that Cadet is more concerned about AP style. That's not a shot, it's just funny considering the rest of the lede.

    I'm not sure AP knows AP style.

    And it least the writer didn't compare it to the economic collapse.

    We had a lede from a nearby paper on Sept. 16, 2001, that was, "Podunk North didn't let the terrorist attacks on our country stop it from celebrating its homecoming."

    Well, thank God homecoming was saved!

    Because too many dumb hicks in Podunk* still think the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks were a New York/Washington thing.
