It seems like some seniors are not real happy with Paul Ryan.

The really big thing was when his VP candidate was found to have been treated in a mental institution and undergone shock therapy years earlier.

Which, even more so back then, was one of those hush-hush things that was to be ashamed of.

The Eagleton fiasco was a huge disaster for McGovern. He was torched all over the place for selecting a VP who had undergone shock treatment for depression. Not a smooth dependable respectable professional like Spiro Agnew.

Plus the 1970s version of the RWSM went to town on McGovern claiming he was a wild-eyed hippie running on a platform of "amnesty, abortion and acid."

And of course don't forget CREEP.

Agnew was never late to those meetings at which he was to pick up his cash!

If punctuality is next to godliness, does that mean Spiro Agnew was a god?

There was no RWSM in the early 1970s. You're referring to attacks on McGovern made by his Democratic primary opposition.

No, but he was close enough to God that communion wafers were like leftovers! [/rimshot]

    Robert Novak.

    There's been a RWSM since the 1700s.

But did McGovern actually have a chance of winning?

Re McCain: I think Mitt has been less competent. And his running mate offers absolutely nothing in the way of tits.

I think that was his first real strategic blunder.
