I look forward to TSP bumping this thread on Feb. 12, 2009.

Some news and spoilers from the producer's blog here....

Reading that, and some of the stuff on that IMDB page, I'm a little encouraged. Seems like they're not half-assing it, and focusing on parts of the story that hadn't been addressed before. In other words, going beyond just the F13 formula of hack, slash, chase through the woods, hack, repeat.
Unfortunately, one of the notes mentions "double-digit kills", which makes me afraid this will turn into a torture-porn gorefest like Hostel or some of the Saw movies.

I'm a big horror movie fan, but I've never seen any of the Friday the 13ths. Was too young to see the original and the first couple sequels and the rest of the sequels were so obviously slapdicky slapdash jobs that I wasn't willing to spend actual money on 'em. But a friend of mine has the entire series on DVD. Might have to borrow the set, take a day and watch 'em all for the sheer cheese of it all.

  4. I liked 6th the best. Although Jason didn't get the mask until I think Part 3. That was the one in 3D and he shot the guy through his eye.

Yep. He wore a burlap sack on his head in Part II.

Actually, he sliced the guy's throat (who didn't die right away; he stumbles into the cabin later on and gurgles a little. Jason also left one of the bikers alive from earlier in the film. He was pretty sloppy in this one). Then he shot a girl through the eye with the speargun.
Another fun fact...Parts 2, 3 and 4, if you pay attention, all take place within a few days of each other. At the beginning of Part 3, the woman is watching the news and hears about the killings at the camp up the road.

This really is a disco theme, and this really does open the movie (with 3-D wireframe animation at comfort only in the early 1980s.)

    It's awesomely bad.

Another classic Jason Voorhees moment -- his appearance on the Arsenio Hall show.

Some footage was shown over the weekend. The quality is not great, but for those interested:
