So are you admitting that maybe, just maybe, soccer doesn't have a monopoly on the "most popular sport in the world" nonsense and that maybe the Super Bowl, while not having a billion viewers, had more than the world cup?

There's absolutely no way to make a definitive statement about which event had more viewers. I don't think anyone could even hazard an intelligent guess.

Well if one was estimated at 250 million more than the other, I'm thinking it is pretty safe to assume that it actually did have more viewers.

Ratings aren't gospel, but they are generally good guidelines.

No, that's not a safe assumption. Do you actually have any clue how those numbers are estimated?

They are completely made up. U.S. numbers are reliable. Europe numbers are decent. Everything else is completely made up.

I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly why the origin of this thread has to be someone trying to be an "asshole", well, other than the soccerheads around here seem to be extremely defensive about their little game....

I mean seriously - you don't think it is interesting that so many people watched, or alleged to have watch, the Super Bowl worldwide?

Because those aren't real numbers. It's a link to a completely made-up number, and anyone with a shred of intellectual honesty would never link to it. The only reason to link to it would be to start problems.

You had to reach to last year's data because your sport is fucked this year ha ha ha ha

Seeing as how the Champions League final hasn't been played yet this season, as you would know, how can we compare this year's data yet?

If only the 'billion people watched the Super Bowl' claim was based on something that was even in the same time zone as 'ratings'.
