Flight lessons?

I've always been interested in taking flight lessons. I'm not gonna be in the cockpit of a 777 anytime soon, but I wouldn't mind the occasional recreational flight. Has anyone taken any lessons/classes?

Zack Moussaoui could help you with that, I'm sure.

I never have, but I have several friends that fly. One is a rich Wall Street guy who has had his own plane since he was in college.

It's a blast going up with them, or when one decides we're going to fly off for a golf weekend somewhere.

I remember reading a quote from an experienced pilot who said that a flight instructor doesn't actually teach you to fly a plane. You basically teach yourself through trial and error.
The flight instructor's job, he said, is to keep you alive while you're learning to fly.

PM WildBillCrazyHat. I'm pretty sure he's a pilot.

And I'll begin taking rotar wing lessons around December/January.

I flew a plane once for a story. It was a rush, to say the least. But given its hefty price, I don't think I'll do it again.

Buddy of mine has his license. He was working toward a commercial license before it got way too expensive. The few times we went up, he'd hand the controls to me.

It was entertaining if nothing else.

From what I understand, flying isn't something you can do occasionally and stay sharp.
