    It's a classic.

I've read all the books and seen all the movies.

It might have been really good if they had someone who could act play Fletch.

I completely agree that if they are going to make some of the other books into movies, they need an actor, not just a comedian.

Reynolds or Lee would have been perfect, but since neither is possible now, I'd go with Franco or Phillippe.

Bill Murray would have been perfect in the originals.

  5. How 'bout Paul Giamatti?

    And I agree with Ace.

Will Ferrell could cement his status as the Chevy Chase of the new millennium.

Other than them both being tall SNL alums, I don't see the similarities.

Fletch is a classic. Chevy Chase was great in the first, sucked in the second and should play Clark Griswald for the rest of his life.

They kinda have their own bumbling schtick and don't deviate much from it.

I love the movie, and saw it before I read the books. Chevy Chase really is utterly miscast, but it still works.

I really agree with this. I think if I had read the books first, I would have still liked the movie, but it might not have been the same.

  12. When I read the books I pictured a modern day William Powell
