You are talking the major leagues with MS-13. It's easy to say you want to join MS-13, but do you have what it takes? Are you willing to sacrifice, put in the long hours? In this day and age, you'd better be stealing candy by age 5, running numbers at 7, and have a hand at pimping by age 10.

And, I hate to say it, but even in the United States in the year 2008, race plays a part. This kid is half-black. You'd be naive to think that isn't a factor when MS-13 holds their draft.

Why should the kid have to make a decision at age four? This is too much pressure to put on a kid. Let him run for both gangs for fun.

If he is really good and gets serious about selling dope and offing squealers, then he can choose one. Until then, let the kid be a kid.

The white gangs are hard-working and really think the game. Black gangs like the Bloods and Crips are more instinctive.

Latin gangs are free flowing and spirited. Their gangbanging comes from the heart and soul.

And they're doing all the banging jobs that American-born gangsters won't.

Somewhere, on some gang message board, they're laughing about a baby being raised by a Yankees fan dad and a Red Sox fan mom, fighting about which bib the kid should wear.

That's not funny. You shouldn't even joke about a baby being born in a broken household like that.

It's coverage like this that's going to help that baby get into the gang of its choosing, just like when you write about Suzie the softball player.

And yet the other hoppers work just as hard.

    Only in Commerce City.

And, as always in matters like this, I defer to Emily Post and Moddy. Son joins dad's gang. It's just the way things are done.

They should look for the gang that works the hardest.
