Cam Hutchison from the Sask Star-Phoenix ... and Gregg Drinnan. Love their notebook columns.

I like a few, but Roy MacGregor is top of the pops.

Jack Todd from Montreal is pretty good
The aforementioned Damien Cox from Toronto has more hits than misses
Strachan is a good info guy (re: Sunday notes) but his columns meander
Eric Duhatshuk (sp?) is a great hockey columnist for the Globe and Mail but I'm not paying to read his stuff.

Reminds me of another Jim who was simply the best this country has ever seen and probably ever will see -- Jim Coleman.

Coleman, who my father knew a little, was great, as was one of his contemporaries, Milt Dunnell (who turned 100 last year) of the Star.

No love for Cam Cole? He's always been underrated because he writes a featurey column instead of a frothing-at-the-mouth one, but he works hard and can write better than most newspaper guys. Plus, a good guy to boot.

I can only pray that this is just the start of an exceptionally hilarious posting career, full of originality and knife-shape wit, for the stunningly erudite fishwrapper. Top shelf.

My Roget hit the floor when I did, felled by laughter.

I thought Top Shelf was what you guys had up there instead of Bed, Bath and Beyond.
