Based on the return of Rick Reilly, I figured it would be fun to exchange favorite columnists to read. National, local, dead, alive, blogger, whatever...

I love Jim Murray and Shirley Povich. I know that probably makes me sound old.

There's gotta be about 1,000 threads already created for this topic. I'm too lazy to find them, though.

We just did a best college-town columnists thread a few months ago.

As opposed to the favorite columnists we don't read?

Sorry, the last list I saw was a few years back.

What about the lower-case columnists? They work just as hard.

Look harder, young paduan: Best national columnists?

Seeking out the earlier threads wouldn't be a bad thing, either. Some of those mentioned might have changed addresses since then, but they didn't forget how to write. And if you enjoy reading work from true craftsmen such as Murray and Povich, do whatever you must to get your hands on a copy of "What A Time It Was".

He's the best in the geographic area between the Kansas City Star and the Dallas Morning News -- and his kingdom may actually go farther south than that.
