I actually read one or two of the books about Babar the Elephant as a kid.

Here's two that I read 20 times each:

    "T-Model Tommy" Stephen W. Meader
    "Big Red" Jim Kjelgaard

"My Side of the Mountain." Wow. Haven't thought about that book in nearly 20 years.

Anybody ever read this? ANOTHER one of my favorites. Picked it up at one of the monthly (?) book sales at school. Read it over and over, until the cover came off.

Glad to see the love for Mike Mulligan although my favourite of Ms. Burton's books was "The Little House".

It's not that spnited couldn't afford books, they just weren't commonplace at the time.

Whatever sports books I could find in the library.

Guess the fitting joke would be "Green Eggs and Ham." :)

    Great book of tongue-twisters.

Also, anything by Roald Dahl, Judy Blume (I loved the Peter and Fudge series), the Thoroughbred series by Joanna Campbell. The Berenstein Bears books. I know there's some others that I'm forgetting. I read wayyyyy too much as a kid.
