In college a friend of mine told me about something that happened in a minor league hockey game in New Haven. The team had a between-periods contest in which a fan took a shot against the team's goalie.
One night, the fan was a gang member. He was frustrated that he couldn't score and started a fight with the goalie. The team and the gang ended up fighting on the ice.

Wouldn't be surprised if it did happen, if this was New Haven and the Eastern Hockey League back in the '60s. The league was a complete gong show and New Haven was one of the worst cities in it. One of the team's main cementheads, Blake Ball, ended up playing a goon in "Slap Shot."
