It's not that nefarious. It was his mom. His mom died. He was executor of her estate. He liquidated the account. This was well before anyone outside the SEC was onto Madoff. And he wasn't working for the SEC at the time.

This is one of hundreds of lawsuits Picard is filing, against anyone who took a check from Madoff for "profits."

Maybe Becker had knowledge of something fishy and was managing his parent's finances. Maybe he knew his mom was invested, but had no clue what Madoff was up to.

It's also entirely feasible, and I'd guess likely, that he had nothing to do with his parents' financial affairs until he had to liquidate his mom's assets as executor of her estate.

He also wasn't working for the SEC during the time she invested with Madoff and the time he executed her estate.

And this story didn't originate from a journalist. It originated from a lawsuit.

That's public information. Any blogger could have written about it.

Lots of blogs have been the first to report on lawsuits.

The odds that he didn't know what his parents were investing in are very very slim, IMO.

And he should recuse himself...should have from the get-to.
