    Was told when I got here that "We have a vacation policy, but don't worry ... we'll work with you."

    "We'll work with you" translation: You don't get vacation your first year with the paper; no one gets more than 10 vacation days (even if you have 25 years in the biz and came from a paper that gave you 15 days) until they work 15 years with the paper; no one can take vacation between Nov. 15 and Jan. 15; the rules change for no one. Period.

    Guy I work with went from 25 vacation days to 4 ... and was told to tough it out.

    Insurance costs employees nothing ... but you have to work 5 months to be eligible.

    Just two reasons I am getting out of the biz.
