ESPN's new ombud--Poynter--takes on the Jalen Rose mess.

    Ya know what I got out of this? A straight news story, references to ESPN talking heads as "talent" and "folks," that, for the millionth time, agents should never be sought and quoted for news stories and ... not much else. So Poynter is ESPN's new ombudsman, eh? Well now, a lot we learned here.

    Two of my colleagues have in the last year and a half. Both were young. Both had limitations put on their licenses that made travel a bit complicated -- albeit manageable.

    Poynter doesn't seem to have any particular ethical problem with Rose being the executive producer (meaning he kicked in on the financing) on the 90-minute ESPN blow job to the Fab Five.
