"Entertainer and icon" tweet. Did Peter King kind of misrepresent Cam Newton?

I think PK just said that he thinks he thinks that Cam Newton wants to be an entertainer and an icon.

He also said he wants to be a Starwood Preferred member.

 

He said he loved me, I agreed to get one of those "gay marriage" things that are all the rage these days, and the next thing I know, he turns up at a bin Laden rally. Fricken Taylor Swift ain't got shit on me in the heartbreak department.

 

How much context does a quote like that really need? It's what he said, and after watching part of the circus that surrounded him all season, there's little doubt that he views himself as an entertainer and an icon. I always had the feeling he was acting in his press conferences.

I always thought King's been spineless in his response to the issue. King's take was that if he didn't put the quote out there, someone else would. That's complete bullshit.

It was an ignorant thing for Newton to say and King reported it. That should be enough. Don't hide behind the "my competition would have printed it if I hadn't" weenie crap.
