Roughly 209 fans at the end of the game. Wow.

Wasn't that long ago that the A's were drawing three figures some nights, and now they're getting a new park in a couple of years. That doesn't seem likely in South Florida, which hasn't shown any indication to give a squat about an outdoor activity in the summer.

Even if you go back to 1993, the Marlins' first year: Only two teams have been to as many World Series as Florida -- Atlanta (2) and the Yankees (5). Those are some pretty good franchise.

It's a shame Florida draws as little as it does, but it has to be more than just a shitty, shitty stadium. I'm sure more people would attend games in a newer stadium, but for how long?

If it had air-conditioning and a team that didn't get dismantled after each championship, I'm sure people would attend in greater numbers than they do now.

I think the second condition speaks louder than the first. How do you remain loyal to a team that won't return the favor?

There were more people than that during the two games the Marlins and Expos played in Chicago a few years ago.

On the plus side, everyone in attendance gets their own personal vendor.

And they introduce all the fans before the game.
