True, but one good stretch does not erase years of epic suck.

If the Rays string together three or four winning seasons in a row, then we can re-examine how awful that franchise is.

Is Bruce going to be Dusty Baker's new set-up man? By the way, when is Keppinger expected back? Before he hurt his knee, that dude was making a good argument for his inclusion on the all-star team. The Reds just might surprise some teams in the second half.

4-6 weeks for Keppinger, surprisingly short for a fractured kneecap.

The Cubs — who lead MLB in runs scored and are second in batting average and walks — would like a word with you.

  5. Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere but last year Johan Santana had only 7 wild pitches all season. he's already tied that number this season.

The Red Sox kept track one year in the '70s how many times Carlton Fisk blocked a ball in the dirt with a man on third base. It came out to like 71 times.

OK, but until someone else does it for reference, we have no idea how good that is.

Right, but it's interesting. It was in one of Boswell's old books, I think it was.

That's because none of the Mets catchers are nearly as good as Joe Mauer.

The Phillies look to be hitting some kind of offensive stride. Putting 15 on the Astros yesterday and 20 on the Rockies today.

But who hits the ball harder?

The Mets catchers can't hit at all.
