I knew Murray's contract was going to be an anchor.

In the comments, a couple people posted that the plane that crashed and pilot that was killed had nothing to do with the Eagles or that banner. They say the plane that the fans chartered was prevented from taking off because of the other plane that went down.

Going to look around and see which story is true.

EDIT: L.A. Times story says the guy was hooking a Bud Light banner when he crashed, which I would assume isn't the banner the Eagles fans were going to use.

Lots of conflicting reports coming out. I saw Fox Sports run with one moments ago saying it was the plane with the Eagles banner.

New info coming out on Doom and gloom's link. Looks like it wasn't the guy who was going to fly the Eagles banner.

This whole fiasco is example no. 75,949 that journalists need to do, you know, some basic journalism before reporting what they see in some civilian's social media postings. Good grief, no wonder owners think they don't to staff newsrooms.

You're not putting the toothpaste back in the tube on this one.

To way too many people these days, "reporting" = "trolling Twitter." It's cheap, easy and "we can always go back and correct it later."

Behind every journalism fuck up is a dumbass editor screaming, "We need to be first! We NEED to be FIRST!"

Be happy to. How many fuck ups have we seen in the rush to be first instead of right?

"Be first, then be right" is most often a result of circumventing the desk, not using it as intended.

Reporters who blame the desk usually are the top-notch ones who need every fact handed to them on a silver platter.
