Who runs the U.S. Open, the USGA or the PGA?

The PGA Tour runs none of the majors:

    Masters: Augusta National
    U.S. Open: U.S. Golf Association
    British Open: Royal & Ancient
    PGA Championship: PGA of America

Yet, the FedEx Cup points are rewarded from wins in these events, correct?

    Yes...inflated ones...given their importance.

And the money won from them have always been counted in the money totals for the end of the year.

One thing that many people don't understand is that the PGA and the PGA Tour are two separate and independent organizations.

The PGA is essentially the organization of club professionals across the country. It's the guy who gives lessons at the local muni and the people running the golf operations at public and private courses across the country.

The PGA Tour is the group that runs the tour.

    Not the same at all.

The touring pros are issued A-3 certifications from the PGA.

the Fed Ex Cup is lame. If they really wanted to make it interesting, take the top 25 guys on the points list, make them chip in a set amount, say 200K, and let them play for it. I'd watch that.
