Report: Duke Coaches, Administrators Ignored Sexual Assault Allegations

Duke junior Rasheed Sulaimon was dismissed from the men's basketball teamon Jan. 29, 2015, with no official explanation given. According to a report published today by the Chronicle, Duke's student newspaper, Sulaimon was dismissed more than a year after he was accused of sexually assaulting two female students. The Chronicle also reports that high-ranking members of the university's athletic department were aware of the allegations as early as March 2014, and violated federal law by failing to report them.

Couple questions on the Duke Chronicle story:

If the two anonoymous female students who claim to have been sexually assaulted, told a handful of others at a Common Ground retreated, is that really going "public?"

If the coach and AD knew that a Duke player was accused of raping two students and didn't kept it quiet for nearly a year, will heads be on the block? Or did enough people know that they will say they thought someone else was reporting it?

 

I never thought that I would see the day that Joe Paterno would be brought down by scandal so anything is possible.
