Dubya signs law saying Nelson Mandela is not a terrorist

On a related note, Homeland Security classified Nelson Mandela and other South African leaders as "terrorists" due to their background with the African National Congress during the apartheid era. The old apartheid government classified the ANC as a terrorist group and nobody bothered to make changes to the feds' watch list when the old South African government fell.

This is not criticizing the current administration alone, by the way. Both the Clinton and Bush 1 administrations had the chance to do the same but for whatever reason did not do so. It's entirely possible the political advisers argued against taking anybody off a terrorism watch list out of fear they could be called "soft on terrorism." Perhaps someday common sense will prevail over politics in Wonderland on the Potomac.

I don't understand why it took, what, 20 years? for this to happen.

    Did nobody notice til now?

Glad it was done, but it's sad that this was even necessary.

How sad is it that we based our terrorist designations on what the apartheid government of South Africa said?

Good move, but how the hell did it take so long?

Oops. I probably shouldn't have waterboarded him in my basement, then.

    Sorry, Nellie!

Me thinks Dubya might just be apologizing for this.
