NFC West can make a claim.

Niners had Montana and Young, but Kurt Warner was the best for both the Rams and Cards. Seahawks had some good QBs, such as Hasselbeck and Krieg, but nobody dominant.

Back of the envelope calculations indicate that the NFC South and AFC South are the leaders, if that's the right word, in histories of subpar quarterback play. Brees is only NFC Souther with a sniff of getting into Canton. Newton, who's decent, is best in Panthers history. Steve Bartkowski and Matt Ryan are tied in Atlanta, and the Bucs, for God's sake, won their Super Bowl with Brad Johnson.
The Colts have Unitas and Peyton Manning, and maybe Luck someday, but the rest of the division, which to be fair has two expansion teams, features franchises whose histories are marked by an inability to find a starter, let alone a Hall of Famer. George Blanda remains the best QB in Oilers-Titans history.

In Week 8, the NFL will find it easier to measure Andrew Luck's stats in miles, not yards.

I think a lot of it comes down to this:

Tony Romo was an undrafted rookie who became a starter. He's got that "Cinderella story" about him.

Jay Cutler was a first-round pick who made headlines because either the Broncos didn't want him any more, or he didn't want to play for the Broncos any more, depending on who you ask, even though Cutler was already putting up big numbers. Thus he became the centerpiece of a blockbuster trade.

Oh, and Cutler's agent is Bus Cook, who was also the agent for Brett Favre, Steve McNair and Randy Moss, all who had "drama" with one or more of the teams they played for. I don't think most people paid attention to the Bus Cook factor when the Cutler trade talks made headlines.

    Two words - Harrison, James

    Dick Lebeau loves a challenge.

Didn't have 27 INTs in either one of those seasons.

Boom being Boom, but with fewer spelling errors than normal.

Harrison has helped the run defense a little, but that is about it. That defense is severely overmatched against the Colts.
