    Hey, something else about commitments, as long as we're on the subject of bonus ones.

    If your local kids have some trumped up ceremony to sign a "Letter of Intent" to play at an NCAA Division III school, do not fall for it. There is no Letter of Intent for NCAA Division III. There are also no athletic scholarships in Division III.

    The amount of coverage that cites these things every year is laughable. It's a sham. Nothing commits a Division III prospect to attend a particular school, or even to play sports once he/she is there. Often these things are staged by high schools that either don't know any better or feel they need to pump themselves up by pretending their kids just committed somewhere. A Division III school is not permitted to require such a signing.

    Just my two cents.
