Do people really get cars for Christmas?

I bought my current car on Dec. 23 last year. I shoulda waited a week and I probably woulda got a few grand knocked off, but I didn't know that then. I might look at the dealerships the week after Christmas this year to see if I can find anything. I like my car (though I would like A/C ... btw, who the fuck makes a 2005 without A/C? I'll tell ya who ... Mazda.), but if I can find a top-shelf deal I'd consider it. And like mustard said, if you can walk away from the table without the car, you're in the driver's seat.

Another reason you get great deals this time of year is because the dealers have to pay taxes on last year's cars if they're still on the lot after the first of the year.

The first time I saw those Lexus commercials, I said the same thing to myself, "No one goes out and buys a $40,000 Christmas gift as a surprise." Shortly thereafter I remember reading a story, can't remember where, that referred to December being one of the top sales months for Lexus. While I still question the whole premise, I suppose it does happen.

I didn't realize that primer was a color.

I got a couple of radio-controlled cars for Christmas. Does that count?

My first car purchase. A 1969 Fiat Spider.

I was a college kid and spent $1,000 on it.

fun ride, but it broke down a lot and I got rid of it after nine months.

I once slept with an older woman whose husband had bought her a Saab 900 Turbo for Christmas. My present was better. :)
