OK, this is an offshoot on the southern thread.
What is the most disgusting cuisine from the region you live?
For example, for me it's boiled peanuts and sweet tea. the first is just disgusting, the second undrinkable. Ahhh, and grits. And greens.

However, in parts of Michigan, they serve muskrat.
In areas of the west, it's rocky mountain oysters.
In TO, it's trying to eat after reading about Jonesy's colonoscopy....

what's the worst about your neck of the woods?

Haven't found anything yet. Although I must say in my yearly visits to the southern states, collards make me ill.

Bull balls. I will not call them by the euphemism "rocky mountain oysters."

forgot one (where's Rosie when you need her...)

    Lutefisk.

  5. Chitlins.

  6. PS. My wife is also trying to get me to try salmon stew. I like salmon and I like stew but this stuff smells ... buttery? ... can't get myself to taste it.

I got stuck with a floor full of Indian people at one of my apartments in college. They cooked with curry sauce every god damn day. That smell hit me like a punch in the face every time the elevator doors opened. God damn bastards!

I had that happen too. But am thinking more along the lines of regional food in your area...

    Catfish.
I tried it once and thought it wasn't bad, but now everytime I try it is disgusting yet they serve it in nearly every restaurant I eat in and everyone seems to love it.
Plus, the first time I saw a catfish at a spring near us I vowed I would never eat one. Ugly, motherfucking fish.
