Disabling comments

  1. Our comments are hand moderated (although we're working toward more automated moderation). So we don't turn comments on for every article. That said, we try to turn them on for every column. And we do other articles based on whether we guess they're going to be talkers. We leave comments on for only 24 hours, most of the time. As for hurting people's feelings, well, readers can argue points all they want. But when it becomes a personal attack on the author, they get rejected.

    Do you all agree comments have jumped the shark? Because of needing to have a facebook account, nobody wants to be outed and comments are gonzo.
