Did MLB Make A Mistake By Putting A Team In DC?

It also had probably the worst stadium in MLB. A toilet bowl with about as much charm as a crematorium.

If they had built a park downtown, the Expos might still be there.

Montreal was the easiest city in the majors to score, and I'm not talking runs. If you were on the dope your six or nine games in Montreal were one of the first things circled.

Best strip bars in MLB, too.

Or so I'm told. I would never attend one of those places.

Barry Bonds met wife No. 1 in a Montreal strip club.

Back to baseball, Montreal really did get screwed. But MLB was itchy to make an example of someone who wouldn't play the stadium game so everyone else would comply. Montreal happened to be the easiest place to vacate.

Actually, under the criteria laid out in the two articles, he'd probably tend to agree -- tho it would kill him to do so.

Had MLB -- when running the former Expos -- not traded Cliff Lee, Grady Sizemore and Brandon Phillips for Bartolo Colon in 2003, the Nationals might have had a winning feel to them today.

Ownership is awful, but a winning team will draw. Seattle has proven that; the M's will still drawn more than 2 million this year even though thtry are terrible.

MLB made a mistake when it put a team in Miami. Time for the Marlins to move to Portland.

A new stadium buys you two years. After that, you have to produce.

Holy shit -- 26,000 a week listening on the radio? And 9,000 households watching every game on TV? That's just incredible.

Miami was definitely a mistake. The Marlins are not going to Portland.
