Get rid of the helmets, or go back to leather ones, and players will be a lot more tepid when it comes to using their heads to hit someone.

Probably cut down on the goal scoring but what is more important is player safety.

Is it possible to cut down on scoring in soccer?

Because that's what soccer needs, even less scoring.

Seriously, though, that wasn't my point. I'm just wondering how fundamental a change it would be in the eyes of people who care more about soccer.

    What? Less scoring in soccer

(Just because someone had to say it)

It would change the game dramatically. A company called Full90 makes a pretty good helmet that reduces the impact of the ball or during a clash of heads.

What's interesting is most soccer TBIs are a result of repeated sub-concussive hits. I watch a lot of soccer and I can't recall any players knocked unconscious on the field of play. Certainly none who headed the ball and then dropped to the grass out stone cold.

But, really, this is a diversionary tactic by Nantz to bring up a bogus stat. If football had the same rate of concussions as soccer, nobody would be talking about it.

I agree completely regarding Nantz. I can't decide who I'm more disgusted with, him or Sanders. Probably Nantz because Sanders has always been an ignorant punk.

I was just curious what people think about the impact of taking headers out of soccer.

It is if you make sure one of the teams is American!

I think that taking headers out of soccer would speed the game up .

And now your ignorance equals Deion's.

Top three issues that cause head injuries in soccer:
-Head-to-head (two or more people trying to head the ball at the same time)
    -Head-to-post
    -Head-to-ground

Excessive heading of the ball isn't an issue ... when you position your head properly.

    So it is a problem.
