    Anyway, I'd go with:

"God Only Knows" by the Beach Boys.

I'm dying to get the new Sex and the City CD...the songs in the movie were terrific.

Sounds like your lady likes current, pop stuff. Here's some of my favs right now:

Leona Lennox...."Bleeding Hearts" or any of the next 3 songs on the CD
    Sara Bareilles..."Love Song"
    Mariah Carey..."Touch My Body"
    Daughtry.."Feels like Tonight"

and, a little reluctantly..."Feels Like Tonight" by David Cook

Wow... I might have to dig out my old mix-tapes if this thread goes on long enough. Right now, I'll recommend a few tracks from CDs I've made recently.

Apologies in advance for any repeats or overwhelming cheesiness! ::)

"Dig Down Deep" -- Marc Cohn
"Bring it on Home" -- Little Big Town
"Always on my Mind" -- Willie Nelson
    "Shameless" -- Billy Joel
"I'll Stand By You" -- The Pretenders
"Not That Different" -- Collin Raye
    "Love Is" -- Stevie Nicks
"Have a Little Faith in Me" -- John Hiatt
"Reason to Believe" -- Rod Stewart
    "Breathless" -- The Corrs
"Handle With Care" -- Traveling Wilburys
"I Want to Hold Your Hand" -- The Beatles
"Something So Right" -- Paul Simon

I'm going to assume she meant Leona Lewis and Bleeding Love. Which was my favorite song and got me through a pretty rough patch a few weeks back.

DD: Try "Five Days in May" by Blue Rodeo. Highly recommended. There's a radio version and a longer version (with some fine solos) on YouTube.

    Wilco's "Side With the Seeds."

    Tires type black
    Where the blacktop cracks
    Weeds spark through
Dark green enough to be blue
When the mysteries we believe in
Aren’t dreamed enough to be true
    Some side with the leaves
    Some side with the seeds

    The treetops nod
    the rain applauds
    The park grows dark
And the swings all slowly die
But you and I will be undefeated
    by agreeing to disagree
No one wins but the thieves
    so why side with anything

    The streetlights glow
    Comes and goes
    When the sun comes back
As we all can plainly see
    Embracing the situation
Is our only chance to be free
    I’ll side with you
    If you side with me

    "Happy" - Bruce Springsteen

Some need gold and some need diamond rings
Or a drug to take away the pain that living brings
A promise of a better world to come
    When whatever here is done
I don't need that sky of blue
All I know's since I found you, I'm happy when I'm in your arms
    Happy, darling, come the dark
Happy when I taste your kiss
I'm happy in a love like this

    There's a house upon a distant hill
Where you can hear the laughter of children ring
Guardian angels, they watch from above
Watching over the love that they bring
But at night I feel the drakness near, I awake and I find you near
I'm happy with you in my arms
I'm happy with you in my heart
Happy when I tatse your kiss
I'm happy in love like this

In a world of doubt and fear
I wake at night and reach to find you near
Lost in a dream, you caught me as I fell
I want more than just a dream to tell

We're born in this world, darling, with few days and trouble never far behind
Man and woman circle each other in a cage
A cage that's been handed down the line
Lost and running 'neath a million dead stars
Tonight let's shed our skins and slip these bars
    Happy in each other's arms
    Happy, baby, come the dark
    Happy in each other's kiss
I'm happy in a love like this

I seem to have taste similar to your girl's. Does she watch The Hills as a guilty pleasure? If so, I've been sweet on the very girly Colbie Caillat lately, and in the penultimate episode of this past season of The Hills, the play-me-out-roll-credits hymn was 'Realize.' A very girly nice song.

Thanks to everyone for the excellent selections. I was up until 2:30 last night piecing many of them together. Lots of awesome stuff.

Lugs, she doesn't watch The Hills, but had she been sucked in early on, I'm fairly certain she would have. Colbie has been featured on the last few mixes I've given her.
