DC Comics to make prominent hero gay - who will it be?

Originally, they were going to create a new, gay character, but recently changed their minds and will have "one of the major iconic DC characters" reveal that he is gay some time next month. Most of the Twitter speculation is about Batman, which to me would make the most sense.

It's going to be SHAZAM! Just the way they wrote his name looks gay.

I hope one of his super powers is gaydar.

 

I bet it'll be one of the female characters.

 

They already have a gay female character -- Batwoman. And it's a pretty good comic. This has to be a dude. Shazam is prominent in the way the Browns are prominent. He's been irrelevant for decades, but has a great history. It will be perfect for him to be gay.

 

Shazam would fit the Dumbledore mold.

I heard Clark Kent was a real gent, if you know what I mean...

 

Well, there is the Jim Nabors connection. Shazam makes sense.

I always thought Green Arrow looked a little too swashbuckley.

 

I imagine it wouldn't be Batman or Superman if only because it seems like those are their only two relevant characters these days. I doubt they have a trouble selling those issues.

I think they'd be more likely to do it with a character who is struggling to sell copies.
