    Of course, being the funniest guy in golf is sort of like being, oh, the coolest sportswriter.

    But yes, Feherty is damn fun. Stand-up comedian funny. Especially off the air.

    He's terrific. He was talking like a sportswriter last month at Hilton Head when they finished on a Monday...Boo Weekley had a comfortable lead, then he duffed a chip on 17. Feherty: "And that brings in the STENCH of a playoff." Weekley then chipped in for par. Feherty: "There's some air freshener for that stench!"

    In any tournament in which Mr. Woods is not playing, Feherty's your man.
    Put Tiger in the field, though, and he's practically drooling.

    Yeah, but that hardly singles him out among golf TV folks. He could never top Peter Oosterhuis, asking on the back nine Sunday at Augusta if something was physically wrong with Tiger since he wasn't making a charge. Completely idiotic.

    Feherty is great. Love the CBS golf coverage when you throw in McCord, though "Hello Friends" Nantz brings it down a bit but he doesn't get on my nerves as much as Brent Musburger did when he was doing golf on ABC.

    Feherty is one of those individuals who is genuinely funny. I mean, fall-out-of-bed and the one-liners come out of your mouth like drool funny.

    A couple years ago, he was at one of our events, participating in the Shot from the Top of the Marriott promotion we do. One of the fringe media writers from some D-list publication wanted to interview him and I gave David the message.

    He looked at it, read it out loud and said without missing a beat "Oh, So-and-so, He's so annoying, he could give aspirin a headache. Why don't you tell him I'm going to politely pass on this one..."

    Throw in the fact that in his day, Feherty could play the game (he was a former Ryder Cupper), grew up in Northern Ireland during the "troubles" and has an elephantine memory and you've got one of the best analysts in all of sports; probably Frank "Ayatollah" Chirkinian's best hire when he was producing golf at CBS.
