Granny's going to be pissed when she sees this thread.

    I dated a 34 year old when I was 19.

Good times. We had fun. Yet we were in completely different leagues with what we wanted. We broke it off mutually after a few months.

Jakewriter...if you know what you want, and she wants the same thing...absolutely go with it.

I was in the same boat, boston. Except when it came time to break it off, it wasn't mutual. She pretty much went berserk. I'm lucky I didn't end up with a bunny on the stove.

I'm almost 40. I've never listened to Lynyrd Skynyrd,

Never heard "Sweet Home Alabama" or "Freebird," even at random in a film or at a bar?

Hmmm ... those are pretty much rites of passage where I come from. But like you ... I own no Skynyrd albums, either.

I would consider that band before my time. Not by far, but before.

Bands before my time: Shoot, some of them are among my favorites.

I don't have an issue with Skynyrd, but I don't exactly go out of my way to listen to their stuff, either.

When I was still in the business and 28 years old, I dated a 38-year-old from advertising for three or four months. We met on the company softball team. Then basketball season started, and she got pissed that I didn't call her for a while. I wish I had handled it better, because she was a great deal of fun.

When I was 32, I took advantage of a 21-year-old-recent-Ivy-grad's desire to seem sophisticated by dating an older man. She was great fun as well, but she had this annoying habit of often being wrong on the facts when she disagreed with me, and she would never acknowledge it.

I was 16, she was 24. That lasted quite a while, despite the obvious differences in our life goals at the time.

She was interested in marriage, kids, etc. I just wanted to graduated from high school.

Sigh ... yes, but F_T referred to a woman who was raised on Lynyrd Skynyrd. I wasn't.

Must everything be broken to its finest point?

Gotta have something to b_tch about, eh? Why not something banal like this? :)
