Bust it into two sentences to make it more clear. Nothing wrong with a two-sentence lede.

Wait ... the children were buried? If so, how did they find the parachute.

Should have canned that reference to the children so it read ... "The FBI is analyzing a torn, tangled parachute found in southwest Washington to determine whether it might have been used by famed plane hijacker D.B. Cooper, the agency said Tuesday."

The children's involvement was covered lower in the story.

Be really strange if buried children found the parachute.

Edit: Shit, 13 replies before mine, and I'm already dbing the thing. Fail.

Is there a chance Cooper buried the children in the parachute?

Was he a serial killer, too?

Yeah, did he mean 'by' as in 'next to?' It was found buried NEXT TO children?

What kind of fucked up place is that??

After reading the story in question earlier this evening, I became enthralled with D.B. Cooper, so I went a-Googling. Came up with this gem from last October. It's long, but fascinating.

This story has captivated me for years. If the serial number leads to something, it's a good bet that there might be some kind of a step in the right direction. Who knows? Could they be able to possibly find some kind of DNA evidence with the parachute?

    From the story:
They pulled on the parachute and then cut its ropes with scissors.
How soon before FBI charges them with tampering with/destroying evidence? :D

That was a fascinating story. I liked the ending. I've read up on Cooper a bit since I saw the Unsolved Mysteries story about him years ago. Part of me hopes they figure out who it is, but part of me hopes he's never found, because finding him will surely rub some of the glow from the story. My personal feeling is that he survived, but who knows?
