Pyro's connections hope he can shake off his 10th-place finish April 12.

I don't think Pyro really cares about his results or is it just my impression?

  2. I'm guessing that's why it says "connections"

Well, other than referring to a horse as "he" ...

Aren't you supposed to use he/she if the sex is known or the animal has a name?

A guy at my old paper ran a mug shot of Barbaro. It was the funniest thing I'd seen in awhile. Ran it just like it was any other athlete, complete with putting a cutline thingy underneath that said:

    Barbaro
    Dead at age 12.

That is correct. Misread the cutline. Mea culpa.

    I would've loved to see that. :D

I saw a paper, in reporting the death of Seattle Slew, run a mugshot with the simple one-word identifier, "Slew" ... just like you would for any half-column mug of any athlete.

My old paper had a Faces-in-the-Crowd -like feature on Sundays, one of our writers submitted a greyhound that was on a winning streak at the local dog track. It ran, with mugshot.

    What was the dog's name?

I can't remember. But it was smiling!
