which is 1000 times better than the mavs were before he took over.

cuban is good for the NBA. yeah he's an arrogant and can be annoying.

but he'd be great for baseball.

How many Cubs fans would be happy with an NLCS again?

You think the Celtics wouldn't mind seeing an Eastern Conference Final anytime soon?

Fenian, just because you don't like Cuban doesn't mean he's an idiot.

The Chicago Tribune reports a Cuban denial:

I think Cuban would be a terrific owner for the Cubbies. If he can make them a winner like he has for Dallas that would be huge.

P.S the blog site would become a paid one if he was the owner.

Remember when the Cubs had jerseys that looked like they had Cuban's last name in cursive on the front?

Darren Rovell says it's not happening ... http://www.cnbc.com/id/17385100

He also brings up how Cuban said it killed him to sing "Root for the Cubbies" when he did the stretch back in 2005 because he's a huge Pirates fan.

Hopefully, Radar's source got the team wrong and Cuban is going to buy the Bucs. [/Pittsburghlooserfanboy]

So in other words, he has something in common with TribCorp employees.

dammit, why doesn't he buy his hometown buccos and rescue us from the hell that is the Nutting/McClatchy ownership ... they are content to field a loser because they are making money, Cuban is not ... all he cares about is winning, couldn't ask for a better owner than that

One of the most recent Real Sports did something on Cuban and part of it was talking about how much flack he got for "over paying" for the Mavs. Six years later, its the third or fourth highest-worth team.

That was my thought when I read this. Supposedly Cuban said he would want to buy the Pirates if they were on the market, but McClatchy immediately said they were not for sale. Then again, he's not running the show any more.

That's something that would be good for baseball. Putting an owner who will actually spend in charge of one of the franchises that currently isn't even trying.

    That made me laugh.

And anybody who scoffs at what Cuban has done with the Mavericks has no understanding of what a dreadful state that franchise was in before he bought it.

It would be great for major league baseball if Cuban would buy a cellar-dweller team. The guy wants to win and he's willing to spend a lot of money to establish a first-class franchise. Nothing wrong with that. So he likes attention? Big whoop...that's a small price to pay.
