My absolute favorite is the "reader" who emails you to complain about coverage without ever mentioning that they're a parent and then, you look at the bottom of the email and it says from "Susie Smith", only to look back up and see the whole email was about the accomplishments of "Robert Smith" and how awesome he is doing.

For the most part, XC parents are great to deal with in my area. Only problems I've had were a coach/mom who was a major bitch to me because of something I had no control over, and the mom who couldn't understand why I chose to feature a senior over her eighth-grade daughter before the state meet.

Mom thought it was unique that a middle school runner qualified for state at the varsity level. Well, it isn't. Middle school runners in my state have qualified for years now. Nothing unique about it at all.

Hey, I even got one from an MMA mom last week, wondering if we had run a story about her son siging with one of the circuits, then getting a sponsorship from Pepsi. I wrote back saying I thought we'd mentioned it in our story about the last fight night at the local casino and we'd be interested in doing something when his next fight comes up. Didn't mention, of course, there's no way I mention the Pepsi deal.
