    He also sounds like Rob Reiner doing the talk-show, "Schmooze For Jews" in Primary Colors.

    I would think a guy who has the ability to get the coach's home number and get through to his hotel room must have some kind of a relationship with the organization and the coach.

    That "Coughlin" would spend that much time instead of just hanging up makes me think it was a schtick, completely a spoof with a Coughlin impersonator. Near the end, Somers mentions some anchor and Coughlin sings the guy's praises.
