The Quincy Herald-Whig, a 26,000-circulation daily newspaper in West-Central Illinois, is seeking a copy editor/page designer for our universal desk whose primary responsibility would be sports. The editor also will have some news page assignments. We’re looking for someone with energy who enjoys the challenge of taking a role in all operations on the copy desk, from doing section covers to content editing. Experience in Quark XPress is recommended. The Herald-Whig is an M-F afternoon, Sa-Su AM daily. The Herald-Whig is located in Quincy, Ill., a Mississippi River town about two hours north of St. Louis. It is a family-owned newspaper, offers profit sharing, 401K, a flex plan, health, dental, life and disability. The Herald-Whig is an equal opportunity employer. Send a cover letter, resume and clips to: Gerri Berendzen, copy desk chief, Quincy Herald-Whig, 130 S. Fifth, Quincy, Ill. 62301; Fax (217) 221-3395; or call (217) 223 -5100.

I worked at a paper owned by this company. Company seemed alright, people in charge at my paper were dopes. Could probably do a lot worse.
