    Top story of the year voted by editors and anchor Llyod Robertson, the rise of the loonie as story of the year.

    Boring top choice but I can understand why! However some good choices in the top 10:

    1) High-flying Loonie
    2) CDN Casualities in Afghanistan
    3) Conrad Black's legal saga
    4) Chinese product recall
    5) Deadly, controversial use of tasers
    6) trial and conviction of Robert Pickton
    7) Hunt for Canadian Pedophiles in Thailand
    8) RCMP shootings
    9) multiple births recorded this year
    10) Scandal surrounding former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney

    I feel the top choice needs more umph!

    Would have to agree. There's no bigger story, with respect to Canada, than the strength of the loonie and the overall economy. It would be ridiculous to have anything else as the No. 1 choice.

    What about the national igloo? We finally got that built this year.
