Amaker's seat heated up by about 4,000 degrees with Michigan's turd-curdling "effort" in Thursday night's NIT annihilation by Florida State.

A couple days late but the following positions on and around I-25 are open:

Wyoming (Steve McClain, five years removed from beating Gonzaga in the first round)
Colorado State (Dale Layer fired hours after McClain and four years after winning the MWC tournament)
Denver (Terry Carroll let go weeks ago in the Sun Belt tourney)
Colorado (Ricky Patton has been documented)
New Mexico (Ritchie McKay is taking his Bible elsewhere)

I feel bad for these ADs because they're all looking for the same kind of guy

I don't think Odom is as safe at South Carolina as people think ...

A couple of radio reports out of Detroit: Amaker fired at Michigan.

Nothing on AP yet but the stations are acting as if their info is solid.

    2:35 p.m.: AP confirms.

Rumblings they may want Tubby if he leaves UK.

Other names flying around: Mike Montgomery, Lon Kruger, Reggie Theus, Mike Woodson (his contract in Atlanta is reportedly up and may not be renewed).

Michigan State assistant Jim Boylen has been mentioned as an "outside-the-box" possibility, although he is also reportedly in the mix for the Utah job. I doubt U-M would lower itself to hire a Sparty assistant. Just too big a pill to swallow.

As a Wisconsin fan, my top choices for UM are Reggie Theus and Steve Lavin. Keep Tony Bennett and Chris Lowery as far away from Ann Arbor as possible.

Why the hell did McClain get axed at Wyo.?

Hey.......in all seriousness......Jalen Rose would be a HELL of a basketball coach for UM.

Would CWebb be his assistant? You know everyone would be able to afford a ham sandwich.
