I was just noticing that MSU has a great chance to be the SEC Vortex Of Domination (TM) darling this year. They haven't played anyone, but have what is perceived to be a rough conference schedule, so any loss will make them stronger because of the competition they faced and any victory will be validation because it proves they're better than that same competition.

I guess LSU is now a nobody simply because they lost to Mississippi State.

Clarification: haven't played anyone out of conference. A key distinction in the Vortex.

LSU is definitely a somebody. And moreover, Mississippi State is somebody for beating LSU, which in turn strengthens LSU's rep for having played Mississippi State.

Any team that goes undefeated in the SEC -- or any of the power conferences, for that matter, deserves all the accolades they get. It's damn hard to do.
This year, I don't know that there's a dominant team in the SEC West like there has been the past five or six seasons (everyone has some flaws), but the teams that are typically on the bottom have gotten better, too. Everyone is sort of a B-plus team, but that's true of college football in general this season. There's clearly a handful of contenders at this point, but none that look like they're a clear-cut No. 1. Even Florida State has looked shaky.

Ann Arbor – Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon absolved Michigan coach Brady Hoke and his coaching staff but blamed a breakdown in communication of the medical staff for allowing Shane Morris, later diagnosed with a concussion, back into Saturday's game.

"Brady Hoke is the head football coach at the University of Michigan," Brandon said. "We evaluate every coach at the end of every season."

Hitching your job to Hoke, Brandon? Good luck with that.
Seems like each time Hoke spoke this week, he made the situation far worse. Brandon's not doing much better.

Oregon up on Arizona 7-3 at half but should be trailing. Wildcats totally flubbed a scoring opportunity in the final 30 seconds while driving.

And Mariotta fumbled on his "touchdown," and a PI called on a pass deflected at the line, that wasn't PI even if the ball hadn't been deflected. Pac-12's worst crew doing this game, just promoted from the Big Sky Conference this year, continuing the Pac-12's legacy of atrocious officiating.

From every replay I saw, Mariotta was in the end zone when he fumbled. But yeah, the PI was bad.

Bottom line, Oregon isn't doing anything this year unless they get the offensive line sorted in a hurry.

Probably the same Pac-12 crew that didn't call the obvious PI against Oregon in the WAZZU game, which ended up clinching the win.

So David Brandon chose Brady Choke over Rich Rod? How's that working out for you, pizza man?

Let's not get carried away. Rich Rod had to go.
