Just because you sell it to some wide-eyed 17-year-old don't make it so. And having your paid mouthpieces on NBC say it really doesn't make it so. Notre Dame is a 1985 Cadillac. It's underpowered, overpriced, unreliable and yet the dealership still insists on calling it the," Standard of the World." It isn't.

All that's true. Still, if you have Notre Dame on your schedule, it stands out. If you schedule them and beat them, recruits and their families are going to take notice.

It may be the name and the reputation, but you're going to get credit for it.

It's still not "the biggest win of Pat Fitzgerald's career." It's more sanctimonous bullshit from NBC and it's ballwashing of all things Notre Dame. Fitzgerald's been there damn near a decade and Northwestern plays big boy football in a big boy conference, yet the Notre Dame circle jerk makes them sound like this cute little team that should be so honored by the graciousness of Notre Dame and the always generous Brian Kelly by letting them escape with a win. It's not his biggest win. Period.

Did they get Chick Fil A after they beat Iowa?

Notre Dame was in the national championship game two seasons ago. You're acting as if they're SMU - a once relevant team that is no longer on the radar.

Beating Iowa and Wisconsin during the regular season is not more impactful to a college football program than beating Notre Dame, under almost any circumstance.

What you need to keep in mind is that BitterYoungMatador and Heyabbott share a hatred of Notre Dame that borders on deranged. Don't expect rationality when either of those two are posting on anything ND-related.

Not sure if BYD also shares Yab's irrational hatred of rich African American NBA players...

Umm, considering they were both ranked CONFERENCE opponents (I know that's a foreign concept to Notre Dame but that's not my problem) they are. Tulsa's win at South Bend was probably the programs biggest, but Fitzgerald's won 10, 9 and 8 games at Northwestern. This isn't some program that's just been bonering along and lucked into a big win against a name opponent.
